Manufacturing limitations and operational burdens placed rotor blades for wind turbines lead to fatigue and a shortened life span. The Scholarship for College emergence of flexibility aeroelastic blades (instead of fixed forms) advantages to enhance the fatigue, but challenges in the characterization of the geometric structure and aerodynamics. Wind tunnel tests do not adjust well to real life meter so that the fundamental understanding of the underlying physics is necessary if large innovative flexible blades need to be modeled successfully.
In this context, major
Scholarship for College objectives:
1. The development of structural dynamic models and nonlinear FEM strong for the turbine blades or with the full effects can, for example, of flexible blades complex composite sandwich laminates and composite skins and bands;
2.The development of advanced models on the aerodynamics of the rotor and the blade, BEM for 3D CFD rotor models, models in a free and improved models of the type;
3. The progress of the numerical simulation of mathematical models for the complex problems of fluid-structure interaction play a key role in the design of wind turbine blade, which also has a fundamental tool for a better understanding of the physics under-predicate;
4. To calculate the torque and thrust on the turbine under wind speed and geometry of the rotor and thus differs from the prediction of the strength of materials in a different environment needs and minimize the damage the rotor.
5. To predict, to load the rotor speed on the variation of wind speed, the geometry of the rotor and the rotor. And to simulate transient and steady-state motions of the rotor, then optimize the shape of the rotor blade and thus to maximize the power capacity.
